Training Course on Distribution Substation

Introduction

The substation is a crucial stage of an electrical power system to transmit and distribute electricity. The substation is designed to change the voltage level from one step to another, switch transmission and distribution circuits in and out of the grid system.

A distribution substation transfers electric power from the transmission system to the power distribution system's distribution system. The input power for a distribution substation is typically at least three transmission or sub-transmission lines. The distribution substation is connected to a sub-transmission system via a three-phase supply line called a primary feeder.

Supply lines are connected to the substation through high voltage disconnecting switchgear components to isolate lines from the substation to perform maintenance. Bangladesh Automation Technologies is providing the introductory and advanced training course on distribution substation.

Main Components of a Substation

Substations consist of high voltage electrical eequipment like transformers, switchgear, isolator, insulator, bus bar, circuit breakers, and associated devices. Transformers step down the voltage from high voltage electricity coming in on the transmission lines to a much lower voltage suitable for the distribution system. There are a lot of components of a substation, such as

  • Instrument Transformers Current Transformer
  • Potential Transformer
  • Conductors
  • Insulators
  • Isolators
  • Bus bars
  • Lightning Arrestors
  • Circuit Breakers
  • Relays
  • Capacitor Banks
  • Batteries
  • Wave Trapper
  • Switchyard
  • Metering and Indication Instruments
  • Equipment for Carrier Current
  • Prevention from Surge Voltage
  • The Outgoing Feeders

Switchgear Equipment

Electrical switchgear equipment collects circuit protection devices such as circuit breakers, fuses, or switches mounted in a standard, metal enclosure. The circuit protection devices are distributed power to various localities of a facility. The electrical loads within those sections, the voltage range is 11KV, 12KV Switchgear for medium-range voltage electrical distribution. Vertically isolated and withdraw able medium voltage switchgear. There are three current circuit breaker ratings like 630 Amp or 800 Amp, 1250 Amp, and 2000/2500 Amp. The feature of switchgear like complete reliability. The requirement for switchgear is essential because of the interconnection and increasing capacity of generating stations. Certain distinguish quick operation to provide manual control.

HT Panel Board Describe

HT (high tension panel) Panels are generally used to supply power to various electrical devices and distribution boards. HT Panels are used with high tension cables to obtain energy from the generator or transformer and distribute electricity to different electrical appliances and distribution boards.

High Tension control panels are compact outdoor type systems, which are broadly used in distribution and substations. HT panel product range is prepared from circuit breakers, switches, fuses, and other critical components on the HT side, which protects the industrial equipment from sudden voltage fluctuations.

HT panel is a metal-clad enclosure fitted with High Tension circuit breakers, relays, and metering used to receive 33KV/11KV supply from one or more sources and distribute the electric power through its outgoing feeders.

The outgoing feeders may be one or more HT panels depending on the building's load of the construction of Bangladesh Automation Technologies has kept open the training course on distribution substation. This training will be beneficial for an electrical engineer. HT panel board describes it is very important to get knowledge about High Tension panel.

LT Panel Board Describe

Low Tension Panel is an electrical distribution panel board that receives power from the HT panel and distributes the electric power to various electronic devices. LT panels are widely used in industries both for the internal and external controlling systems.

Therefore, HT and LT panels are quite rugged to withstand different climatic conditions. LT (low tension panel) Panels are used with short tension cables to obtain power from the High Tension panel and distribute electricity to various electrical components and distribution boards.

The low tension panels are designed to use at lower voltages like 650 volts with low insulation levels. LT panel board describes it is very important to get knowledge about it. The main element of LT panel board such as

  • Bus-bars.
  • Air Circuit Breaker
  • Miniature Circuit Breakers
  • LEDs
  • Meters
  • Transfer
  • Switches
  • HRC Fuses

PFI Panel Board Describe

PFI panel board describes it as an essential part of the power factor correction system. Power factor is the cosine of angle within voltage and current PFI is the Power Factor Improvement. PF (power factor) is defined as the ratio of real power (KW) to the apparent power rated in KVA and is the cosine of the angle by which the current lags or leads the voltage.

PFI (Power Factor Improvement) panel board is used to improve the Power Factor of the system low power factor due to the inductive load of different industries and big apartments. The Power Factor Improvement (PFI) Plant is used for improving the low Power Factor of the system.

Automatic power factor improves using the PFI control panel, whenever required, by automatically switching ON and OFF the bank of capacitor needed units. In electric power distribution, synchronous condenser and capacitor banks are used for power-factor correction system.

These banks must counteract inductive loading from devices like electric motors and transmission lines, making the load appear to be mostly resistive.

Conclusion

Every manufacturing industry uses electricity for its industrial purposes. It is essential to keep a better knowledge of electric power systems. For this reason training course on distribution, the substation is most important for the newly completed engineer.

We provide substation Training course about substations, number one breaking device, transformer, secondary switching devices, switchgear lineup, tool transformers, relays, meters and instruments, lightning arresters, transducers, cables and bus ducts, control and communications wires.

Electrical transmission, distribution, outdoor, indoor, and switching substations generally have switching, protection, and one or more power transformer or distribution the transformer is used.
